CJA APPLICATION PROCESS

All qualified attorneys are encouraged to apply for membership on the CJA Panel, and shall be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, or disabling condition.
New Applications to the CJA Panel for the District of Colorado are accepted between November 1 – December 31 each year. CJA Application forms will be made available on this website on November 1st. Preference is given to applicants who reside and practice law full-time in the District of Colorado.
Current CJA Panel attorneys are required to renew their applications every three (3) years. If you are a current CJA Panel attorney, you will receive a notice that your term is expiring along with a renewal application form.
All CJA Panel applications, both new and renewing, are reviewed by the CJA Selection Committee and by the Court. New application and renewal decisions are discretionary with the Standing Committee and the Court. Deliberations of the CJA Selection Committee and the Court are confidential.
To serve on the CJA Panel for the District of Colorado, attorneys must be members in good standing of the Bar of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. Also, the CJA appointed attorney must have a basic working knowledge of CM/ECF, PACER and eVoucher.
